Ramada by Wyndham Darjeeling ★★★★

The location is superb, the best in Darjeeling I would say. Very centrally placed. Everything nice, is just a 5 mins walk. The breakfast spread was good. Rooms are tidy.

During Check-in , there was utter confusion between the reception person and the person/team in charge of room - clearance and handover. There was not only delay in providing room, everytime we approached to reception, he had no idea if the allotted room is ready to be occupied or not and kept calling someone asking for room status.

Centrally located easy access to markets and travel Mr. Kapil the F&B manager is a gem of a guy. Very Guest centric and helpfull. He had breakfast packed for us as we had an early morning flight.

I can really recommend this hotel. The hotel is modern with friendly professional staff . I was upgraded from a pool room to mountain view room which I much appreciated even though the mist and fog obscured the scenery. The rooms were bright ,clean and tidy with good TV and WIFI. I didn't have time to try the food so I cant comment. Location wise the hotel is near the shops and a short but steep walk down to the railway station and the Himalayan Steam Railway. (try the 2hr "Joyride" ticket on steam train (not diesel train ). In peak season book thru Indian railways in advance or better still local travel agent cost = 2000 IR including agent commission ) The hotel staff kindly arranged for me to take a big comfortable taxi from Darjeeling to Gangtok (Sikkim) cost =4000 Indian Rupees one way - (the scenic route is fabulous) Please note West Bengal WB taxis cant go to Sikkim you will need a Sikkim taxi- hotel staff will advise. You will need to get an ILP permit to visit Sikkim (I got mine at Bagdogra airport booth near baggage reclaim. Take a passport photo and a copy of your passport//visa. Sikkimese staff at Bagdogra are really helpful and kind. At the Sikkim border you will need to get your passport stamped when you arrive and leave Sikkim. There is a prepaid taxi office at Bagdogra airport that provide taxis to take you to Gangtok and Darjeeling. Bagdogra to Darjeeling Taxi Cost oneway = 2000 IR min but make sure you get a comfortable taxi with aircon (because of pollution)and seatbelts which cost a little more= 2500 to 3000 IR. Bagdogra to Gantok cost oneway = 3500 IR. If you are travelling far and are short on time I wouldn't use crowded public transport.

Breakfast was good, however,South Indian items are not up to the mark.

Mattress of the bed is very uncomfortable for person having back pain.

Beds were comfortable, the place was clean. Location if fantastic.

Bath towels could have been better. No hand towels provided. Dinner buffet was not available

1. Construction noise from the on-going work on the 1st floor. Noises from the work could be heard till about 10 in the night. 2. Breakfast buffet spread was decent. But felt some local cuisine items could be added.

hospitality provided by staff was a 5 star grade, very very central location as every market - shopping and food is at walking distance, hot water facility available 24 hrs in extreme cold weather, always helpful staff . staying in anyother unrecognised hotel would not be recomended as you may end up with complaints like hot water and cleanliness.. i would 100% vouch and recommend ramada for its international standards and prices was reasonable worth
